Do you guys ever think about things that you could have done in the past knowing that you can take with you the present knowledge? Some of the stories we here on the news with the girl who was kidnapped and found but many years of hidden darkness and torture that she had to go through. Or some of us too young to have known Sylvia Likens but had a time machine to go back in the past to bust down that door and grab Sylvia and Jenny out of the hell hole they were in. It pains me that I am nothing but a person with no insight powers and no way of aiding anybody to the rescue in the present time of torture and agony that goes on today let alone being able to go to the past and helping others. Some of the pictures that Brian or Forsylvialikens or anyone else that has provided has opened up some of the past and you can almost feel that you are within grasp of rescuing them but to realize it is just another photo. When looking at Stephanie's yearbook picture after the whole ordeal, you can see the pain deep down just by looking at her eyes. When looking at the photo of Jenny crying at the funeral, you can almost feel the pain with her and wish you can hug her in comfort. When you look at other photos of the kids that took part of the torture, you can see the confusion and laughter in some of the kids' expressions. When looking into the picture of Mrs. Gertrude, you can see despair and a look of one that is lost and angry. I think about these things constantly but it is not because I am crazy or schizophrenic. It is because I think of how easy it would have been to stop it all if only we knew then of what we know now. It has made me a stronger person and has made me a more empathetic person towards others. Even when some of the others have an inborn hate of certain people for no reason why and hate me just because I am who I am, I can't hate them back. I see them as a person that may have had a learned condition as to why they do what they do. These things that we learn here has helped condition me with better and stronger empathy and care for others. I was a changed person after learning what happened to Sylvia and I have become even stronger by being here looking at all these photos and seeing the faces from the past. History does repeat itself as we all have heard before. One can only see it in the news every now and so often of the despair and hurt one does and can do towards another. The question comes back to why? Is it a learned conditioned thing from how a certain person was raised? Is it programmed in certain people to do these things? Is it because the good lord would be bored to having everyone care and love one another? Just want to say thank you all for giving us feedbacks and new information almost everyday and just know that you all that do share does make some of us a much stronger and better person in spirit and in knowledge. Thank you.
